How about a way-out discussion of possible plants on other worlds?

Quite seriously, the universe naturally develops complexity. Just look at how turbulent water naturally develops structures such as eddies. Given time, more and more complex chemistry arises and eventually, it seems clear to me, life arises. It may follow that the most likely place to find complex life is around the oldest stars, and I would opt for planets around red dwarfs, rather than Sol type stars. After all, many are very old indeed. It so happens that the nearest star to us is a red dwarf and indeed, red dwarfs are the most common type stars in the universe.

So what would grow there?(besides LGMs). Most of the light would be red and infra-red. I imagine that it would be stuffed full of mosses, moulds and such like. I am sufficiently conservative to imagine that water would be an advantage and that the life would have developed the atmosphere with some amount of oxygen. Of course this is quite likely to be proved wrong, but it is an easy starting point since we have real examples in our own back yards, and besides, I have sufficiently gone out on a limb for the moment with my preference for red dwarfs. So I will stick with the "goldilocks" concept for the moment..

Hey, that's enough for now. Time to see whether others out there will participate in a discussion along these lines.

Wow, this is obscure! Submit  a photo and I will identify any plants you find. Good luck with that.
